Cross-country skiing for all

In the spring the nearest cross-country skiing to Vrchlabí is on the cross-country trails in the Benecko area. As the thaw progresses it is even better to head for the Horni Misecky racing tracks above Spindleruv Mlyn. You can conveniently reach both locations by bus or car.

Cross-country skiing - Jankův kopec

If you go for a small trip you can take the road behind the hotel Gendorf, along the health centre to the beautiful area of the hill Jankuv kopec. If there is enough snow in the area you can enjoy cross-country skiing on well-treated runs. If you are ambitious you can climb the hill to the chalet Ferra and then to the village Strazne. There you can easily come back to Vrchlabi on the same way or walk on Kamenna cesta towards the road Spindleruv Mlyn - Vrchlabi and then continue to Vrchlabi on the road.

All-day-long trip for mountain "challengers"

You can take the bus to Spindleruv Mlyn and then walk towards St. Peter on the ski road along the restaurant Dolska. Before Ski centre you will turn right to Hromovka and then to the crossroads Nad Krasnou Plani. There turn left and climb hard to the upper post of the skyline cableway in Plan. Then you can continue the ski run to Srub. When you get to the place turn right and descent via Krasna Plan to the village Strazne. You can get some refreshment in the pub on the square and then you can either take a bus to Vrchlabi (at about 17.00 h.) or go skiing via chalet Ferra to Vrchlabi. There go down through the park to the town centre or continue the way for a while towards the area behind the health centre and you end your journey at the hotel Gensdorf.
