Spindleruv Mlyn

Spindleruv Mlyn belongs to one of the most popular skiing centres not just in the Giant Mountains but in the whole Czech Republic. It is situated about 715 - 1310 metres above the sea level where the Dolsky stream joins the river Labe.

The town lies in the Giant Mountain National Park and extend in an area of 77 square kilometres and has got 4 parts - Predni Labska, Labska, Bedrichov and Svaty Petr. There lives about 1300 inhabitants during the year in Spindleruv Mlyn and in the season is increased for about 15 000 tourists.

This original mining and wood cutting settlement started at the end of the 18. century to be called Spindleruv Mlyn after a mill of a Spindl clan built on the river Labe. From the end of the 18. century and mainly from the 19. century, the people started to build more. From chalets became nice hotels and restaurants. Most of them were build between the 1. and 2. World War and others after the year 1945. The symbol of Spindleruv Mlyn is a white bridge built in 1911 and is situated directly in the town centre. Above the town centre you can also find a St. Petr and Paulīs church built in the year 1802.

Spindleruv Mlyn further offers high accommodation capacity (more than 200 objects), 42 restaurants and 20 discos. Visitors can use other services: fitness centres, squash, summer bob-sleigh trace, 10 tennis courts, 3 swimming pools, mini-golf, paragliding, etc.

Skilifts of the ski-area Svaty Petr have total capacity of 8.990 persons per hour. The skilifts of the ski-area Medvedin have total capacity of 8.480 persons per hour. There is an ideal starting point for people going to the ski-area Horni Misecky.
