Ratiborice

In the early 19th century, Kateřina Vilemina Zahanska, the owner of the Nachod estate, chose the Ratiborice Chateau as her summer residence and had it remodelled in the spirit of the late Empire style. The chateau and its surroundings served as a setting for The Grandmother, the most famous novel of the 19th-century Czech writer Bozena Nemcova. According to the book the Grandmother lived at Stare Belidlo which, besides the chateau and the mill, is one of the most frequently visited historical monuments in eastern Bohemia.
