Harrachov

Harrachov is mainly the centre of winter sports and recreation. On the shoulder of Certova hora there have been built several downhill courses, vary from easy to difficult, there are several ski jumps including the mammoth one that was built in 1920 and cross country race trails.

Harrachov glass factory and glass have always belonged among world´s best. Glass production is sustained as functional glass open-air museum with all attributes including historic glass grinding plant - the oldest in the world, powered by water turbine with original wooden frames. Because of these exceptional qualities the glass factory is the most visited building in broad surrounding nowadays. The excursions to the factory (glass production) and museum of glass take place everyday there. The area of glass factory also consists so alled mansion where you can find newly built museum of glass with exhibits from the whole history of factory´s existence. Next to the glass factory there is a chapel of St. Elizabeth with glass bell and a wooden church of St. Wenceslaw with partly glass altar.

There are 5000 beds, 2 gyms, 1 soccer stadium, 4 public and 4 private tennis courts, 1 golf and 3 minigolf courses, 7 swimming pools and 1 open air pool at tourists disposal.

Except a two-seat cable car to Certova hora and many ski lifts, there is a new four-seat cable car in Ryzoviste. The surrounding offers good conditions for hiking, cycling (marked routes) and skiiing. There is the important border crossing point to Poland near Harrachov.
